Breeding conditions:
|
| As Arctic Foxes were actively hunted during the 1992/93 winter, they were not observed in summer at all and appeared in small numbers only in September - October. Birds that fed on small mammals bred. Thus, seven nests of Rough-legged Buzzard were found in a 50 km2 area in the Yarayakha river mouth (69ø15'N). Judging by the number of birds in the tundra, and from the numerous flocks of waders in September, breeding conditions for birds in summer 1993 were favourable.
